§ Mr. Rookerasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, pursuant to his reply of Tuesday 17 March, Official Report, column 436, he will take into account the value of scrap copper and other non-building materials before paying derelict land grant in respect of the former Ansell's brewery in Birmingham.
§ Mr. John PattenI understand that the vast majority of valuable equipment, incuding copper and other non-building materials, was removed by Ansells brewery prior to the site being acquired by Birmingham city council for demolition purposes. The demolition contractors will be responsible for disposing of normal scrap building materials excepting certain antiquities with an historical value which will go to the city council.
