§ Mr. Craigenasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what discussions he or his officials have had with Glasgow district council (a) before or (b) since the publication of his consultative document on the governing bodies of colleges of education in respect of the retention of the town and gown link between the district council and Jordanhill college of education board of governors.
§ Mr. John MacKayThere have been no such discussions although written representations have been received from the district council. The Colleges of Education (Scotland) Regulations which come into effect on 1 April provide for the local authority governors of all colleges of education to be drawn from the membership of the education committees of regional or islands councils.
