Member for Southwark and Bermondsey (Mr. Hughes) on 17 March, at column 434, and to the right hon. Member for Bethnal Green and Stepney (Mr. Shore) on 23 February, at columns 90–91. The information requested for Newham is given in the following table, together with corresponding information about the authority's capital expenditure on housing. The latter reflects the use that it has been able to make of the various sources of capital spending power available to it including, since 1981–82, its receipts from the sale of assets.
