§ Mr. Gordon Brownasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the sale of HMS Fife.
§ Mr. Archie HamiltonHMS Fife is planned to complete her RN operational service at the end of June 1987. Following sales negotiations with prospective customers the ship is expected to be disposed of by sale to another Government, for handover by August 1987.
Alternatively, should this method of disposal not succeed, the vessel will be destored and de-equipped for disposal commercially, probably to a shipbreaker for scrapping.
