asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will encourage British Rail to introduce minibus-type vehicles running on flanged wheels on branch lines, in the interests of economy and efficiency.

It would be for British Rail to bring forward proposals of this nature. The Government are always happy to endorse investment which gives good value for money.
