§ Mr. Berminghamasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what representations he has had concerning the adequacy of the provisions relating to product liability in the Consumer Protection Bill as they relate to the entitlement of injured parties to receive compensation where the defect is latent.
§ Mr. HowardMy Department has received some comments about the provisions of schedule 1 to the Consumer Protection Bill, which implement in particular the three year limitation period under article 10 of the EC directive on product liability. These provisions were amended in certain respects when the Bill was at Report stage in another place and are reflected in the draft of the Bill which has been introduced into this House.
