§ Sir Alex Fletcherasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will review the arrangement for training opportunities in general medicine as part of the vocational training for doctors wishing to enter general practice, in the light of the reduction in the number of senior house officer posts in general medicine in the Lothian health board area.
§ Mr. RifkindIn Scotland the number of doctors undertaking vocational training for general practice is more than sufficient compared to the number of vacancies. The detailed arrangements for allocation of training posts within overall hospital establishments in Lothian is a matter for the health board.
