HL Deb 18 March 1987 vol 485 c1510WA
Lord Mottistone

asked Her Majesty's Government:

If it is now in a position to make an announcement about the payment of Department of Health and Social Security benefits to members of the Reserve Forces.

The Minister of State, Scottish Office (Lord Glenarthur)

My noble friend Lord Trefgarne is currently abroad on Government business but has asked me to announce on his behalf that volunteers in the Reserve Forces will be able to earn the standard quarter day's pay for each of up to 16 midweek drill nights in a year without suffering any reduction in unemployment benefit. The necessary amending regulations will be introduced shortly.
