Mr. Ron Brownasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what recent representations he has received from the Royal Town Planning Institute about planning education in Scotland; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. WaldenThe implementation in Scotland of the recommendations of the transbinary working group on town and country planning was discussed briefly at a meeting that I had with a deputation from the Royal Town Planning Institute on 26 February 1987. Since then, the chairman of the Scottish branch of the Royal Town Planning Institute has written in similar terms about planning education in Scotland to Ministers in both the Department of Education and Science and the Scottish Education Department. As the correspondence centred on the Scottish dimension it was considered appropriate that it should be dealt with by the Scottish Education Department. This was the substance of my reply.
