§ Mr. RidleyIn 1985–86, one third (£8.6 million) of the Birmingham inner city partnership programme supported 465 voluntary sector schemes. The partnership aims to help inner city residents help themselves and this is often achieved through voluntary sector projects. £9.8 million of the 1986–87 programme has been set aside for the voluntary sector demonstrating increased support from the urban programme.
