HC Deb 16 March 1987 vol 112 c409W
Mr. Cartwright

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he has received the report from the Greenwich health authority about the case of Miss Bernadette Kenny; and whether he has any plans to increase the current level of provisions for adolescent psychiatry in the Greenwich health district.

Mrs. Currie

We have not received a report and there is no reason for us to do so, although I have seen a copy of the letter which was sent by the district general manager of the Greenwich health authority to the hon. Member for Woolwich last November. This letter reported the outcome of the health authority's investigation into the care of Miss Bernadette Kenny.

The level of provision for adolescent psychiatric services in Greenwich is a matter for the district health authority to determine. I understand that, although the Greenwich health authority does not consider it viable to run its own inpatient adolescent psychiatric unit, it is actively trying to improve its links with other health authorities which provide this service.
