HC Deb 16 March 1987 vol 112 cc418-9W
Mr. Hunter

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how much milk has been produced by each European Economic Community country; what proportion of each European Community country's liquid milk has been converted into milk products; and what proportion of each European Community country's milk products has gone into intervention, in each year since 1979.

Mr. Gummer

Details of the quantities of milk produced in each member state of the European Community are contained in the "Agricultural Situation of the Community", a copy of which is available in the Library of the House. Information on the proportion of each member state's liquid milk production used for the production of milk products is not readily available. But table I shows the percentage of total milk utilisation (including imported milk) used for milk products (including fresh milk products and cream) by member state for the years 1979–85. Table II shows the percentage of each member state's production of butter and skimmed milk powder sold into intervention in each of the years 1979–86.
