HC Deb 16 March 1987 vol 112 c404W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many staff, transferred from abolished authorities, have received detrimental payments from the London residuary body; and how many are still awaiting payment.

Mr. Chope

I understand that the LRB has received some 1,130 eligible claims for compensation for financial detriment from former GLC employees. Of these 616 individuals are receiving interim payments, 126 have been notified that their entitlement for the current annual compensation period is nil, and the amounts payable to the remaining number have not yet been determined.

Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether, pursuant to his reply of 16 February, Official Report, column 420, all staff of authorities abolished by the Local Government Act 1985 with entitlement have received full redundancy payments.

Mr. Chope

I understand that some 200 out of over 6,000 claims for redundancy payments or compensation from former employees of the GLC and MCCs have yet to be settled in full. This includes disputed claims and those awaiting final adjustment.
