HC Deb 16 March 1987 vol 112 c408W
Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his estimate of the value of (1) the Hellesdon hospital, (2) the site of the Hellesdon hospital if that hospital were demolished, (3) St. Andrew's hospital at Thorpe, (4) St. Andrew's hospital site if the hospital were demolished, (5) the University of East Anglia site considered for a new 800-bed hospital and (6) the site adjacent to and west of Colney lane which is available for development.

Mrs. Currie

The East Anglian regional health authority estimates the existing use value of Hellesdon hospital on a depreciated replacement cost basis to be between £5 million and £6 million. No comparable estimate has been made for St. Andrew's. The authority estimates that the open market values of the two sites are about £25,000 per acre and £15,000 per acre, respectively, although the actual value would depend on the planning permissions that could be obtained and market forces. It would not be appropriate for estimates of the value of the other sites to be disclosed, as this could disadvantage the authority as a possible purchaser.
