(2) how many of the total number of supplementary benefit claimants referred to the office of the Chief Adjudication Officer for investigation of entry status were referred from local offices of his Department in the London north and London south regions, respectively; and if he will provide a breakdown of the nationalities of those claimants.

Between 21 October 1985 and 21 October 1986, 1,470 supplementary benefit claims by people from outside the European Community were referred to the office of the Chief Adjudication Officer; a breakdown of these by nationality is not available.
