HC Deb 13 March 1987 vol 112 c313W
Mr. Frank Field

asked the Lord Privy Seal what criteria are used in determining the number of each quality newspaper purchased by the Serjeant at Arms Department for distribution in the Members' Tea Room and at each of the buildings where Members have offices.

Mr. Biffen

The quantities of all the national daily newspapers purchased for distribution in the Members' Tea Room and at each outbuilding has been established from experience of Members' requirements. In the case of the more recently launched, or relaunched, newspapers an initial assessment is made of Members' requirements and the necessary order is placed. This is amended in the light of Members' reactions.

The Serjeant at Arms is always prepared to consider requests to adjust the quantities ordered.
