§ The Solicitor-General for ScotlandThe Scottish Law Commission's report on child abduction was recently received by my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland and was published on 12 February. The report makes a number of recommendations for change in both common law and statute relating to the abduction of children, and these are now being considered. The report also points to jurisdictional problems which the Commission considers arise from the provisions of the Child Abduction Act 1984 and which it does not regard as capable of solution by changes confined to Scotland. Full consultation before any conclusions are reached would therefore seem appropriate.
