Mr. Boyes

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what are the current pay levels for official drivers.

Mr. Chope

The basic pay for GCS drivers is £104.58 per week plus £28.07 per week Inner London weighting, for a standard 39 hour week.

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many drivers of official cars have taken the advanced driving test.

Mr. Chope

Three Government car service drivers have passed the advanced drivers' test. This is not yet a mandatory test for GCS drivers who are all obliged to satisfy ROSPA examiners before taking up employment.
