HC Deb 09 March 1987 vol 112 cc30-1W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis as to how many police officers were on duty in connection with the marriage of Mr. Mark Thatcher; and what was the total cost involved.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

[pursuant to his reply, 23 February 1987, c. 33]: I understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that a total of 240 police officers were assigned on 13 and 14 February 1987 to duties in connection with the wedding. The additional cost to the Metropolitan policy was about £7,000.
