§ Dr. Marekasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if the Medical Research Council has any plans to accede to the request by the Department of Bacteriology, University of Edinburgh, for further funding for research into meningitis; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. WaldenI understand from the Medical Research Council that no formal application has been received from the department of bacteriology, University of Edinburgh. Should such an application be received, it would be for the MRC to determine its scientific priorities from within the annual grant-in-aid which it receives from the Department's science budget.
