Whether they will state for each of the years 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983 and (estimated) 1986 the Gini coefficient in respect of Original, Gross, Disposable, Post-tax and Final Household Incomes on the same assumptions and definitions as those applying to Table B on page 97 of Economic Trends of November 1986 (No. 397).
§ The Secretary of State for Employment (Lord Young of Graffham)The Gini coefficients for the years 1979 to 1983 are given in the table below. I regret that it will not be possible to calculate the figure for 1986 until the results of the 1986 Family Expenditure Survey on which the estimates are based become available later in 1987.
