HC Deb 09 March 1987 vol 112 cc17-8W
Mr. Dewar

asked the Solicitor-General for Scotland if he will give the number of degrees in summary cause issued by Scottish courts last year and in each of the previous five years.

The Solicitor-General for Scotland

The number of summary causes disposed of in 1984 (the latest year for which figures are available) and the previous five years is set out in the following table:

Number
1979 117,005
1980 134,724
1981 109,153
1982 146,061
1983 130,570
1984 125,138

Those figures are drawn from the annual publication of Civil Judicial Statistics, Scotland where there is no separate figure for cases disposed of by decree as opposed to cases taken out of court.
