§ Mr. Strangasked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he will list existing defence lectureships in British universities, polytechnics and colleges of higher education.
§ Mr. FreemanThe Ministry of Defence currently sponsors a total of five defence lectureships in British academic institutions. These are at the University of Aberdeen; the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth; King's College, London; and two posts at the University of Cambridge. A sixth defence lecturer will take up his post at the University of Birmingham on 1 October 1987. Two former defence lecturers, at the University of Lancaster and the University of Leeds, will continue to receive support funds from the Ministry of Defence until the end of the 1986–7 and 1987–88 academic years respectively.
