§ Mr. Heddleasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the effect of the proposed community charge on the rating of sports clubs and related buildings.
§ Mr. ChopeSports clubs will not be directly affected by the introduction of the community charge. However, like other non domestic properties, under our other proposals for rating reform, they will pay rates at a uniform rate in the pound on up to date rateable values following the revaluation planned for 1990. Non profit making sports clubs will continue to be eligible for rate relief of up to 100 per cent. at the discretion of local authorities.
