asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what levels of radiation in the environment have been recorded as a result of the accidents at the Sellafield reprocessing plant during January; and if he will make a statement.

No increases in the levels of radiation in the environment were detected following the incidents at Sellafield in January 1987.

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if the Government propose to take any action with regard to safety standards at Sellafield in the light of the most recent call by the Irish Government for the closure of the; and if he will make a statement.
