§ Mr. GoodladThe figures for material unaccounted for (MUF) are based on the nuclear material accountancy returns submitted to Euraton under regulation 3227/76. MUF figures for nuclear material are calculated by subtracting the book inventory from the physical inventory. In the case of fuel pins, the amount of nuclear material they contain is determined at the time of manufacture when the pins are sealed. Thereafter, identification and management procedures are such that there should be no MUF provided the integrity of the pins is maintained.
