§ Mr. WaldegraveDiscussions are continuing both within Government and with the water industry and interested outside organisations on the various options for limiting nitrate concentrations in water supplies. On Monday I discussed the contribution which farmers could make with representatives of the National Farmers Union. The water authorities most concerned are reviewing their nitrate strategies in close consultation with Government, identifying areas at risk more closely, and investigating the extent to which protection policies are practical in those areas.
