Mr. Foulkes

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list all United Kingdom registered fishing vessels lost at sea since 1979 where the cause of the loss was unknown, giving the exact location of the last reported position and in each case showing whether that location is within a designated submarine exercise area.

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what recent representations he has received about (a) the loss of the fishing vessel Mhari L and (b) dangers to fishing vessels generally; what action he has taken as a result; and if he will make a statement.

My right hon. Friend has recently received letters from two hon. Members about the loss of the Mhari L; one of these letters referred to the dangers to fishing vessels generally. I will be replying as soon as possible.

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list all cases reported to his Department or to the Coastguard, or about which his Department has information, where fishing vessels have been in any kind of incident involving (a) British, (b) United States or (c) other submarines; and what action he has taken as a result.
