HL Deb 04 March 1987 vol 485 c713WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What are their plans for a study of the cost to British industry, trade, administration and consumers of computer failure and errors.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Trade and Industry (Lord Lucas of Chilworth)

Her Majesty's Government has no plans for such a study. The potentially serious consequences of computer error and failure are already well recognised, and increasing attention is being given to practical means of minimising the risks.
