HC Deb 04 March 1987 vol 111 c623W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he has received any representations about the effect on patient comfort and care of budget changes for Christie hospital in south Manchester; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Currie

My hon. Friend the Member for Manchester, Withington (Mr. Silvester) has brought to my attention the important work being done at Christie hospital and what could be achieved with increased financial resources. The regional health authority has recently announced a package of additional funding of more than £¼ million for Christie, which will provide 20 additional nurses and fund other service developments. In addition, Christie hospital will get a substantial share of the £104,000 allocated to south Manchester health authority next year in recognition of its regional specialty workload.
