§ Mr. Wolfsonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he will make a statement on the do-it-yourself shared ownership scheme; and if he intends to increase the maximum purchase price allowed under do-it-yourself shared ownership regulations;
(2) what representations he has received about the do-it-yourself shared ownership scheme and the maximum purchase price allowed under do-it-yourself shared ownership regulations;
(3) if he will estimate the cost of increasing the maximum purchase price allowed under the do-it-yourself shared ownership regulations by (a) 35 per cent., (b) 40 per cent. and (c) 45 per cent., respectively; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. John PattenI shall shortly be reviewing the value limits to apply from 1 April 1987 for all housing510W association shared ownership schemes in the light of representations from my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, the Member for Surbiton (Mr. Tracey), the National Federation of Housing Associations and several individual representatives. New provision for do-it-yourself shared ownership schemes is restricted to discretionary funding by local authorities within their HIP allocations, which precludes effective estimating of the effects of increased value limits.
§ Mr. Wolfsonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will consider allowing unlimited do-it-yourself shared ownership purchases over an extended area within the county of Kent; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. John PattenLocal authorities are already free to operate unlimited do-it-yourself ownership schemes on a voluntary basis independently of housing associations. I have no plans to remove the value limits in respect of shared ownership operated through housing associations.
