§ Mr. ScottThe Government's aim is to encourage the spread of both personal and occupational pension coverage, through the new choices and incentives introduced by the Social Security Act 1986, so that many more people will have a pension of their own. Regulations under the Act which set out the detailed arrangements for the new types of pension schemes will be laid before Parliament later this week, and will help providers finalise details of their new products. It will be for those providers to promote their schemes, but I am considering what role the Department might best play in ensuring that people are aware of the new choices open to them as a result of our pension reforms.
