§ Lord Northfieldasked Her Majesty's Government:
What extra flights to London by British West Indian Airways they are prepared to allow to replace those formerly operated by British Caribbean Airways; and why, with flights fully hooked this summer, there has been delay in giving this consent.
§ The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Transport (Lord Brabazon of Tara)Since BWIA is a Trinidad and Tobago airline it is not entitled to replace the services formerly operated by Caribbean Airways, a Barbados airline. Following a meeting with a senior representative of the Barbados Government on 4th June to discuss capacity offered on the London-Barbados route during the summer 1987 season, on 9th June my department gave BWIA permission to operate one extra service per week between Barbados and London over the period 9th July–18th September inclusive.
