HL Deb 29 June 1987 vol 488 cc117-8WA
Baroness Lane-Fox

asked Her Majesty's Government:

If they will announce the membership of the Disablement Services Authority.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health and Social Security (Lord Skelmersdale)

The then Minister of State for Social Security and the Disabled announced in another place (Official Report, 10/3/87; col. 149) that my right honourable and noble friend Lord Holderness had agreed to serve as chairman of the authority, and that Professor Ian McColl had agreed to serve as vice-chairman. We are delighted to have this opportunity of expressing our gratitude to these two distinguished men for taking on this task.

We have appointed seven further members of the authority, and we are grateful to them for accepting the challenging but worthwhile task that lies before the authority over the next few years. They are as follows:

Mr. S. Ingham, District General Manager, York Health Authority;

Mr. D. F. Johnson, former Managing Director, Thorn EMI (Retail) Ltd;

Professor E. A. Marsland, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Birmingham;

Professor D. L. McLellan, Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine, Southampton General Hospital;

Professor B. E. Tomlinson, Chairman, Northern Regional Health Authority;

Mrs. B. Warren, Chairman, College of Occupational Therapists;

Dr. J. Watkinson, former Chief Executive, Otis Elevator plc.
