HC Deb 24 July 1987 vol 120 c503W
Mr. Wells

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what provision he is making to pay the United Kingdom contribution of 8.5 million Australian dollars to the International Trust Fund for Tuvalu.

Mr. Chris Patten

Ratification of the agreement establishing the trust fund, which was laid before the House on 25 June for the requisite 21 days, can now he given effect. Financial provision will be sought in a winter supplementary estimate for the overseas aid vote. Pending that vote, urgent expenditure estimated at about £3.86 million will be met by a repayable advance from the contingencies fund.
