§ Mr. Wallaceasked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he intends to meet members of Shetland Islands council to discuss the licence of the Sullom Voe oil terminal; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Peter MorrisonNo.
§ Mr. Wallaceasked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he has any plans to meet members of the Sullom Voe Association to discuss the operation of the oil terminal.
§ Mr. Peter MorrisonI have no such plans at present.
§ Mr. Wallaceasked the Secretary of State for Energy what, over the last 12 months, has been the average current daily oil throughput of the Sullom Voe oil terminal.
§ Mr. Peter MorrisonThe latest published figure is for 1986 when the terminal received 54.8 million tonnes of crude oil, an average of 150,137 tonnes per day.
§ Mr. Wallaceasked the Secretary of State for Energy what is the expected throughput of oil of the Sullom Voe oil terminal from now to 31 December 1999.
§ Mr. Peter MorrisonThe throughput is declining; 1986 was probably the peak year, but the outturn to 1999 will depend on the performance of those fields currently feeding the terminal, existing discoveries which may be connected, and new discoveries which may be made and tied into the Brent and Ninian pipeline systems in the interim.
§ Mr. Wallaceasked the Secretary of State for Energy when he last discussed the operation of the Sullom Voe oil terminal with the participants.
§ Mr. Peter MorrisonI have had no such discussion, but my officials are in frequent touch both with BP, which operates the Ninian pipeline system and also operates the Sullom Voe terminal on behalf of the Ninian and Brent pipeline groups, and with Shell/Esso which operates the Brent pipeline system.
