§ Mr. Galbraithasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give the latest percentage estimates of the increased demand for National Health Service resources in Scotland due to demographic change for the years 1987–88, 1988–89 and 1989–90.
§ Mr. Michael ForsythThe Government's expenditure plans for 1987–88 to 1989–90 allow an annual increase of 1 per cent. in provision made for hospital and community health services in Scotland to meet estimated demand growth caused by demographic changes and other factors. Health boards will also be expected to continue with their economy and efficiency programme which, in the current year, are expected to divert the equivalent of 1½ per cent. of revenue allocation into direct patient care.
