HC Deb 24 July 1987 vol 120 c527W
Mr. Nicholas Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the annual number of adjournments of cases for sentence in magistrates' courts in England and Wales solely because of the absence of a driver's licence printout from the Swansea driver and vehicle licensing centre; what plans he has to improve the service to the courts and to reduce costs; and what is the estimated cost of such adjournments.

Mr. John Patten

The information requested is not available centrally and could not be obtained without disproportionate cost. I understand that inquiries made of DVLC are ordinarily dealt with promptly, but if my hon. Friend has any particular difficulty in mind I should be very ready to arrange for it to be considered further.
