asked the Secretary of State for Energy whether there has been any withdrawal of uranium of South African or Namibian origin from international safeguards for national security reasons (a) before May 1979 and (b) since May 1979.

[pursuant to his reply, 17 July 1987, c. 647–48]: I am not able to answer for previous Administrations. There have been withdrawals of uranium from safeguards since 1979. It is possible that some of this material was of South African origin.
