HC Deb 24 July 1987 vol 120 c589W
Mr. Michael Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what grant is currently paid by his Department to Action on Smoking and Health in the current year; what grant will be paid in the succeeding year; and when he last had a meeting with the organisation's officers.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

The Scottish Committee of Action on Smoking and Health will receive an annual grant-in-aid from the Scottish Home and Health Department of £31,000 in the current financial year. The level of grant for 1988–89 has still to be decided. Officials of the Scottish Home and Health Department met representatives of the Scottish Committee of Action on Smoking and Health on 6 June 1986. A further meeting is due to take place later this year.

Mr. Michael Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has to transfer the funding of Action on Smoking and Health from public to private sources.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

My right hon. and learned Friend has no such plans at present.
