asked the Secretary of State for Defence (1) how many tenders he has received from contractors for

from the director of architectural services of the London borough of Greenwich seeking a special capital allocation to enable the council to restore the royal arsenal gatehouse on land surplus to the A206 road improvement scheme.

Mr. Chope

The London borough of Greenwich was informed that a special capital allocation was not available. The council has discretion in deciding how to spend the resources which it has available for capital expenditure and it is for the council to decide whether to allocate a share of those resources to the restoration of the royal arsenal gatehouse.
