HC Deb 23 July 1987 vol 120 cc345-6W
Mr. Winnick

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is Her Majesty's Government's policy towards the bringing to justice of United Kingdom inhabitants held responsible for Nazi crimes against humanity; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hurd

The policy of successive Governments has been that those accused of serious crimes committed abroad should be extradited, provided the requirements of our law are met. Last week I received from the Simon Wisenthal Centre documentary material in support of allegations that people responsible for war crimes are living in this country. I am examining this material in order to assess the scope for further action.
