HC Deb 23 July 1987 vol 120 cc313-4W
Mr. Tom Clarke

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what assessment he has made of the problems for special education caused by proposals for a national curriculum framework; and what methods are to be used to monitor individual progress at the ages of seven, 11 and 14 years of age for children with special educational needs.

Mr. Dunn

My right hon. Friend is shortly to issue a consultation document on his proposal for the national curriculum. Copies of that document will be placed in the Library. My right hon. Friend is aware of the need to pay close attention to the implications of those proposals for children with special educational needs, and he will be giving careful consideration to the comments he receives on his proposals from organisations with particular concerns for such pupils.
