HC Deb 23 July 1987 vol 120 cc423-4W
Mr. Ron Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has received recent representations about the contamination of Granton foreshore; and if he will make a statement.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

We have received three representations since the beginning of this year. Edinburgh district council and the Forth river purification board, the bodies principally responsible for investigating and dealing with complaints involving pollution, are inves-tigating the matter.

It should be noted that, quite separately from offences under the Prevention of Terrorism legislation, persons detained under that legislation may be charged with common law offences or offences under other legislation.
