HC Deb 23 July 1987 vol 120 cc336-7W
Mr. Clay

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish the distribution of aggregate disposable income of selected groups of households for 1979 and 1985 using the family expenditure surveys of 1979 and 1985 (table 25) on a comparable basis, taking into account the change in housing benefit and the introduction of mortgage interest relief at source.

Mr. Lee

The exact information requested is available only at disproportionate cost. However, provision was made in analysis of the 1983 family expenditure survey (when the introduction of the housing benefit scheme necessitated a change of income definition) to provide results on two bases. The figures show 1985 and 1983 distributions from the family expenditure survey on the current basis.
