§ Mr. Soleyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many individuals held under the international provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act 1984 and against whom an extension of detention was authorised by the Secretary of State were (a) subsequently charged with an offence or (b) deported under the Immigration Act 1971.
§ Mr. Hurd[pursuant to his reply, 13 July 1987, c. 364]: From the implementation of the 1984 Act on 22 March 1984 to 31 March 1987, 24 persons whose detention under the international provisions of the Act had been extended beyond 48 hours were later charged with offences. I shall write to the hon. Member later about the numbers deported after having been so held.

§ Mr. HurdNo. In line with the policy as announced in Standing Committee on 5 July 1983 and on subsequent occasions, I have decided that the Pool Competitions Act 1971 should not be renewed. The Act will therefore lapse on 26 July. The few organisations affected have already been notified.
