HC Deb 20 July 1987 vol 120 c39W
Mr. Amess

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the export of transport expertise, particularly with regard to railways, during the past year.

Mr. David Mitchell

United Kingdom firms have continued to be active in this field. The export of expertise includes not only consultancy services but also the transfer of technology and the training of overseas staff which often form part of railway equipment export orders. The normal range of Government support for exports is of course available to companies in the railway sector, and the Government continue to assist industry in this field wherever possible.
