HC Deb 20 July 1987 vol 120 c44W
Mr. Malins

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when he intends to bring into force the provisions of part III of the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1987, concerning the regulation of private security businesses in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Tom King

I have made an order bringing part III into force on 1 August 1987, except for sections 17 and 21 which will come into force on 1 January 1988. From the latter date it will be an offence to offer, provide or advertise security guard services without a certificate, or to pay money for security guard services to a person who does not possess a certificate.
