59. Mr. Cryer

asked the Attorney-General if he is to undertake any further legal actions designed to suppress Mr. Peter Wright's book on MI5; and if he will make a statement.

The Attorney-General

To enforce the duty of confidentiality owed to the Crown by Mr. Wright I shall on behalf of Ministers collectively take such steps by way of civil proceedings as appear to the Government to be appropriate.

To protect the public interest in the due administration of justice I shall in my capacity as a law enforcement officer take such proceedings of a criminal nature as appear to me personally to be appropriate.
