§ Mr. Onslowasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what arrangements he is making, during the current go slow by passport office staff, to provide for the addition of children's names to their parent's passports where there is an urgent need for this.
§ Mr. RentonEvery effort is being made to give all applications for passport services the appropriate priority. If an application for the addition of children's names to an existing passport is delayed and the applicant is unable to contact or call at the passport office, a British Visitor's Passport (BVP), including the children's names, can be obtained from a post office if the planned journey will be covered by a BVP. In these circumstances post offices have authority to issue BVPs valid for a limited period without production of all the documentary evidence normally required. Those who obtain BVPs in these circumstances may also qualify for a refund of the BVP fee under the special measures announced in my right hon. Friend's reply of 2 July, at columns126–27, to a question from my hon. Friend the Member for Weston-super-Mare (Mr. Wiggin).
Further to that reply, the following additional countries have agreed to accept until 29 September 1987 travellers using uncancelled United Kingdom passports which expired within the last five years:
Column A Column B Barbados Greece Yugoslavia Italy Spain The countries in column A have also agreed exceptionally and for the same period to accept travellers with BVPs; the countries in column B already accept BVPs.
